St. Nicholas Day @ Care.Shelters 🎅🏼
St. Nicholas Day is a very special celebration in Ukraine. It is a day when Ukrainian children, having written letters to St Nicholas and listing all their dearest wishes, will get presents under their pillow.
This year it was even more important to celebrate these festivities for the children who have lost their homes. Presents were arranged so that each child throughout the Care.Shelters did not end up empty-handed. This year, the children’s wishes were more poignant. It was for the war to end, to be able to return home again, to be able to play in playgrounds without air raid sirens, and for their fathers to return home safe and sound.
The day was celebrated with laughter and merriment, where children could be children. This is what Care.Shelter is about. It is about giving hope and building a better future.
